Mac Too PC?

Allout.org and change.org are going after Apple for their participation in the controversial Christian Values Network’s charitable giving plan whereby customers can donate a portion of their purchase from iTunes or the Apple Store to a charitable organization of their choice. Other large corporations have backed out of the program when it became apparent that it was funding orgs like Focus on the Family and Abiding Truth Ministries.

“Apple may not mean to fund hate groups. In fact, they’ve publicly supported LGBT rights in the past, even donating $100,000 to stop an anti-gay hate law in the US. But now that they know what’s really going on at CV, it’s time to pull out.

BBC America, Microsoft, Delta and most recently Macy’s have cut ties with CVN under public pressure. But computer giant Apple is still participating despite more than 20,000 people signing a petition on Change. org started by Ben Crowther, a fan of Apple and equality.”

You can sign the petition here.

Get Well, Jack

Jack Layton, leader of the NDP, was looking scarily gaunt this week when he announced that he is facing another form of cancer and will be taking time off from politics and from the leadership of the NDP to focus on his health and treatments. He looked frighteningly different from the man that took Quebec and Canada by storm earlier this summer. He plans to return to work September 19th, but no one really seems to be buying that yet.

Do you have feelings about Jack’s cancer announcement? Because the Globe and Mail apparently cares how YOU feel about it, because, you know, that is the important thing.

Send Jack a get well message.

Margaret Atwood for Mayor of Toronto?

What would a day in Canadian politics be if we were remiss and didn’t mention/mock one or both of the Ford brothers and something stupid that came out of one or both of their mouths. Well today was a double whamee of sorts.

Do you know who Margaret Atwood is? OF COURSE YOU DO. You are Canadian. You probably at least have a grade 10 education. So of course you do. Well apparently the twitter-savvy Atwood waded into politics this week by tweeting about Doug Fords stupid comparison of libraries to Tim Horton’s. She then tweeted Friday: “Twin Fordmayor seems to think those who eat Timbits (like me) don’t read, can’t count, & are stupid eh?”

Well Doug Ford’s awesome comeback was: “Well good luck to Margaret Atwood. I don’t even know her. If she walked by me, I wouldn’t have a clue who she is.” Maybe you need to visit a library Dougie? And while you’re at it, maybe lay off the Timmies.

Well by today of course there was a Facebook page dedicated to electing Atwood Mayor of Toronto.

Then Rob Ford apparently couldn’t handle all of the attention his brother was getting. The twitterverse exploded when reports of this surfaced today:

“Ottilie Mason and her 6-year-old daughter pulled up next to Ford and spotted him talking on his cellphone while driving. So they did what they always do when they dislike something.

They gave him a thumbs-down, and Mason rolled down her window and said: “Get off your cellphone.”

Mason said Ford responded by giving her the finger.”

Cuz he’s a family values kinda guy. Shucks.

Lady Gaga Judges/Sobs On SYTYCD

Lady Gaga played judge last night on So You Think You Can Dance and in what is about as much of a given as her crazy outfit, she was emotional and teary eyed especially during this little bit. “I’m just so proud of you”, she said while judging Marko, “There are so, so many things I did wrong when I was younger. And so many things I wish I could take back and I felt every moment of that through your dance tonight.”

You are probably wondering what they are going on about right? Check out the dance here:

Anti-Gay Hard Rocker Sues Rachel Maddow for Defamation

Apparently a while back, Rachel Maddow, in her no-bullshit kind of way called out an Anti-gay Christian hard rock band Junkyard Prophet associated with You Can Run, But You Can’t Hide International that had received substantial donations from an American political candidate and backing from uber crazy Michelle Bachmann. Watch the whole clip below:

Well according to Autostraddle, Bradlee Dean is now suing Rachel Maddow for defamation because… she played a radio exerpt of EXACTLY WHAT HE SAID ON HIS SHOW. Apparently when he said that countries that kill homosexuals are more moral, what he meant was that countries that kill homosexuals are more moral, except.. not. Apparently that is not what he meant, but just what he said. Also he apparently said these things:

“But of particular notice is Bradlee Dean’s remarks about gay people. He has claimed, among other things, that gays are responsible for the Holocaust or that gays “on average…molest 117 people before they’re found out.” He also seems to have a poor understanding of the legal status of homosexuality, believing that the 2010 nomination of Sharon Lubinski to U.S. Marshal for Minnesota was illegal because Lubinski is a lesbian. Even stranger, he believes that Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), the first Muslim in the U.S. Congress, is trying to “advance Sharia law” through his support for gay equality.”
