Happy Friday Music Lovers!

What I think:
So, I tastefully refrained from posting Gotye’s viral ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ when it came out, because the entire world had already played the shit out of it by the time I could have. (Disadvantage to posting only on Friday – most new videos are released on Tuesday). I DID go out and purchase Gotye’s record immediately, as I suspected there might be some gems hidden on there. (And by “go out and purchase” I meant opened the iTunes app on my phone and tapped ‘download’).
Turns out I was right! (Well, at least that’s my opinion.)
I fell in LOVE with this record – and this track specifically – so I was really pumped to see they’d chosen it as their second video release. The visuals in their first release were stunning, for the record, and this one doesn’t disappoint. I feel like it’s a fitting Friday tune – heavy on the synth and moderately depressing lyrics – but full of ultra cool stop-motion animation. It’s simplistic, yet visually captivating. I’m a fan.
What some other random person on the internet thinks:
(Marcus from www.thevine.com.au)
“…The impressive video was made by local director Darcy Pendergast (from Oh Yeah Wow); also responsible for Gotye’s striking ‘Eyes Wide Open’ clip of last year, as well as the incredible light-animated clip for All India Radio’s Rippled’. Reminiscent of the work of French-director Michel Gondry (particularly his effort on Radiohead’s ‘Knives Out’), the video features Wally De Backer acting out the daily grind: waking, working, sleeping, repeat, with hilarious consequences.”
Also, I do recommend this record – if you’re like me and tunes that are dripping with 80s synth-y goodness make you weak.
Oh – watch the video here!
